We in the tapestry group were saddened at the passing of our chairperson and inspirational leader, Betty Byrne on the 28th Oct 2007. Betty was a founding member of the group. She possessed a rare talent in needlework and embroidery and took great pride in her work. She passed on her craft to the group members with great enthusiasm. Though in ill health for many years, Betty prayed that she would live to see the tapestry completed and thankfully her prayer was answered. The complete work of textile art, now proudly on display in the visitor’s centre, will forever be associated with Betty Byrne.
